Stolpen Castle – Here you can find one of the deepest basalt wells in the world. However, this fortress built on an extinct volcano probably became famous due to the fate of Countess Constantia von Cosel, the well-known mistress of the Saxon Elector Augustus the Strong. In the 18th century, the countess was imprisoned in Stolpen Castle for 49 years after being exiled by the Elector.
